Well, for the past 16 months it has been my pleasure to provide quality online radio programming and music support for hIQ fans everywhere. Unfortunately I have been unable to find the time necessary to provide the level of quality of service that I would like to. So today I am officially closing the doors of the hIQ netstream and passing on the torch to anyone else who would like to follow in my footsteps. Anyone who is willing to host a quality netstream from their dorm room, colocated server or wherever is welcome to talk with me about aquiring all the code and setup nessecary to get started. I'm really sorry about the unreliablity of the radio station lately. Currently I'm using XMMS 1.2.4, the LiveICE plugin and lame to encode the data for the stream's feed. Unfortunately, it keeps crashing after 2 or 3 days. I can't narrow down what the problem is exactly. I'll have to try a few things. Please be patient.

Yea!!! I got a second high quality stream going. By defualt, you'll be connected to the low quality stream when you use the http://hiq.suso.org:8000/ URL. If you want to use the high quality feed, connect your mp3 client to http://hiq.suso.org:8000/hiq96k

I just added about 400 more songs to the playlist. Most of them are goa and trance tracks that I picked up while in Seattle. I just randomly mixed them in with the IDM and jungle tracks from before. This may not make for a clean cut playlist, but it will give me an idea of what people like. Let me know what you think by filling out a survey.

The seductive sounds of Steam Vent will be performing this weekend at the hIQ internet studios. He'll be bringing the movie "City of Lost Children" that will accompany the music that he plays.
